You are valuable, and your time is your most precious asset. The great thing about time is that we get the same measure each day, regardless of status, class, location, or category.
Yet, for whatever reason, knowing this fact doesn’t necessarily translate to much if the mind doesn’t see clearly.
Time is a gift, and to realize that value, you have to see, understand and apply yourself.
To time ownership!
When you start to understand time, like the writer of Proverbs, you begin to understand the foundational laws of the universe.
Value is discovered, created, and revealed in time.
Continuum: The Anti-Racist Journey
We have a long way to go towards the desired state of humanity, humankindness, transformation that is so desperately in our societies and communities.
The question, what can I do often asked after these heinous events is a reminder that there is so much work to be done. I have faith, hope and confidence that ‘we’ will figure it out eventually, I am also conscious that this is a generational challenge, that will continue to require the fighting spirit that looks out for our collective humanity.
From experience, some of us know that this journey of…
Everything we have experienced since George Floyd’s death seems like déjà vu.
In a much broader context, it feels like the more inequity we surface, the more familiar it is to the past. We have been on this journey for a long time. While it is obvious that we are far from where we began, we also know without a doubt that there is still a very long way to go.
As a Gen-Xer and a parent, I exemplify a generation that combines guarded optimism and some anxiety. …
Glad to announce that the September free coaching sessions are back again, and that’s because I know and understand the power, psychological safety, and value in mentoring and coaching.
It’s FREE, so what’s the catch? None, whatsoever. I am merely paying it forward, so if you are uncertain whether this is for you, here are a few questions to consider — If any resonates, then sign up and let’s chat further.
Dear friends, allies and leaders,
This is the right time to prove that the “growth mindset” mantra applies to you as well. I love how Khalil Smith framed it, “We love that you want to be an ally. We appreciate that you’re fired up and ready to help. We see it in the emails we receive, and the texts of support”.
But dear friends, the onus to get informed and learn, re-learn, and unlearn history is on you. Feel free to lean on us when you get stuck, we will be available for guidance, counseling, and to answer your questions…
Dear friends/allies (leaders),
I will love to start with my most profound appreciation to everyone who has called, texted, reached out to check-in. Thank you for caring and listening, now we have to make lasting change.
At some point, in the immediate future, you will get an opportunity to speak up, or you will have a ‘mic’ turned on for interviews, opinions, etc.
PLEASE DON’T MESS IT UP.
Make sure you get it right on your first try, and here are some tips to help you prepare for your moment in the spotlight.
We are in a weird place, admittedly strange because the full extent and scale of this global pandemic are still somewhat novel across the nations. And with the ramped-up reopening of the economy, this is no time to be complacent. Be wise, stay safe, and healthy as you maximize the moment.
The following quotes on crisis and opportunities are for your consideration as you maximize time (with family, friends, loved ones, neighbors, communities). I remain optimistic and confident that these quotes will act as catalysts to motivate, challenge, and drive you to action.
This graph captures the typical phases of a major disaster. I think we are somewhere, between phases 4 (honeymoon) & 5 (disillusionment) which are the phases that demand the most effort, attention, and intentional leadership.

Disaster Model by Zunin & Myers
“Phase 1, the pre-disaster phase, is characterized by fear and uncertainty.
Phase 2, the impact phase, is characterized by a range of intense emotional reactions.

Crisis reveals great leaders and exposes weak leadership.
Great leaders show what’s possible in a crisis with courage, deep-rooted conviction, hope, and clarity. This essential leadership skill can be observed in people and isn’t dependent on a formal leadership role or title.
As I reflect on the current clime we are in today, there are so many unknowns and that is why courage, unbridled hope is needed more than before. I am reminded of this quote —
“A leader is a dealer in hope.” — Napoleon Bonaparte
The first job of a leader is to inspire himself or herself and…
There will be a tomorrow!
South Korea is not in lockdown.
Singapore is not in lockdown.
Taiwan is not in lockdown.
The reason any country goes into lockdown is that the virus is spreading rapidly because of a lack of readiness (perceived or not) and inadequate testing approach and types of equipment. The lockdown is the next logical step necessary to curtail the spread and ensure the sickly, vulnerable and elderly get the appropriate care needed.
Feeling sickly, get tested.
Testing is vital because it informs who is infected and needs immediate care and treatment. Let’s hold the line on…
